Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Fleckenstein Gallery & Archival Framing was established in 2000, with nearly 15 years prior experience in the framing industry.
What is your primary product or service?
We sell original paintings, hand-pulled prints, mixed media artwork, drawings, mirrors, photo frames - the list goes on. We also frame high-end artwork for collectors, museums and universities, as well as posters and memorabilia for the more budget-conscious.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Picture framing can be a wasteful industry, so we attempt to recycle as much as we can; fortunately, the recycle center is just a few blocks away. (We get many cardboard boxes.) We often donate mat, foam core and plexiglas scraps to local art nonprofits and artists, bubble wrap and peanuts we don't reuse we donate to a local packaging place, and small commercial frame scraps we turn into mini mirrors. We also try to support other local businesses in our area.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We're conveniently located near the JFX (Jones Falls Expressway - 83), and just a few blocks away from "The Avenue" - Hampden's main 36th Street. We have a few labeled parking spaces to the right of the building, and there is free parking on the street.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express, checks (after credit established), and cash.
Which areas do you service?
We service the greater Baltimore region, though we do have many clients that live quite a distance away, and support our local artists, or have us frame their artwork.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Fleckenstein Gallery & Archival Framing is owned and operated by Terrie Fleckenstein. She has 30 years' experience with french mats for antique prints, mulberry hinges and handling large contemporary artwork.
What are your hours of operation?
Hours of operation are Tuesdays-Fridays 11am-7pm, Saturdays 11am-5pm, and by appointment.
