Asset Strategy Consultants is a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered investment adviser, founded in 1991 in the State of Maryland.
What is your primary product or service?
Asset Strategy Consultants provides independent investment advisory services to institutional investors.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
ASC has no other competing lines of business: actuarial, banking, brokerage, custodial, or money management. We are independent, with no affiliation with providers of investment products; no conflicts of interest and total alignment of interests with clients; and integrity of objective and unbiased advice. Our Middle Market Expertise allows us to focus on clients with assets of $25 million to $500 million, who face different investment management challenges than clients with multi-billion dollar portfolios. Due to our middle market focus, we are able to identify investment products that are not followed by national consulting firms or broker/dealers.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
The Headquarters of Asset Strategy Consultants is located in Baltimore, Maryland. ASC has offices in Boston, MA; Raleigh/Durham, NC; Harrisburg, PA; and Charleston, SC.

Take Interstate 83 to Exit 20A East – Shawan Road. Proceed forward on Shawan Road to 3rd traffic light, turn left onto York Road. Take first right onto North Park Drive into North Park Business Park. At the stop sign, Building 6 is across the street and to your left. Asset Strategy Consultants is in Building 6, Suite 208.
What type of payments do you accept?
Asset Strategy Consultants cannot receive any economic benefit from broker-dealers, money managers or other providers of investment services. This includes finders’ fees, 12b-1 fees, commissions, soft-dollar payments, equipment or non-research services. The only source of remuneration is from services provided to ASCs’ clients, thus operating on a basis of total objectivity and avoiding any conflicts of interest. Asset Strategy Consultants will also provide project-based services. This will include one-time consulting projects, under which ASC has not necessarily been retained on a traditional asset-based agreement. The client will be charged an agreed upon project fee.

Our areas of service include sponsors of qualified retirement plans (defined benefit and defined contribution plans), endowments, foundations, corporate insurance reserves, trusts, and high net worth individuals.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Asset Strategy Consultants is a Maryland Limited Liability Company founded in 1991 by Charles E. Herget, Jr. and Alfred J. Morrison and began providing investment consulting services the same year. In 2006, John Meehan was hired as Director of Research and added to the ownership as a Principal. In June 2017, David E. Saunders, II and Robert G. Merrick, III were also made Principals. Alfred J. Morrison acts as Chief Operating Officer.
