Irlen Visual Learning Center of Maryland has been in existence since November of 2008 and Abilities Occupational Therapy Services and Seminars, Inc., also known as AOTSS, has been doing business nationally since 1998.

Abilities Occupational Therapy Services and Seminars, Inc. (www.AOTSS.com) provides accessibility and home modifications consulting for businesses, communities, and clients living in their homes. We work with design/build teams to implement to most cost effective and appropriate technologies and modifications to maximize safety, independence and caregiving. Our ergonomic assessment help clients return to work with less pain and prevent injury for health and wellness. Our individual and group sessions provide stress management, goal setting, communication, and learning strategies to overcome challenges and live with positive energy and healthy relationships. Our CE professional trainings for therapists, educators, home school parents, and design/build professionals are conducted onsite and via the internet, and can be constructed to provide a unique training designed for your group or company's needs.
Irlen Visual Learning Center of Maryland provides Irlen Screenings and Diagnostic Testing for color overlays and spectral filters to decrease stress and improve functioning in such areas as reading, writing, math, computer work, coordination and visual perceptual skills. How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Our staff consists of design/build professionals, medical professionals and educators. Innovation in helping clients achieve health and wellness is our focus. We provide extensive resources on both of our websites free of charge, support for special education and inclusion programming, and training programs to empower clients and professionals to maximize resources and effectiveness of daily living skills. We are national leaders and have published numerous articles on the services we provide.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We bring together a variety of resources and interventions to meet the individual needs of consumers and collective needs of organizations who support independent living, community integration, and the health and wellness of our clients. Our interventions are researched based and uniquely tailored to individual needs. Our expertise in the following areas is nationally recognized for "Best Practice": accessibility consultation, home modifications, assistive technology, special education, injury prevention, sensory processing disorders, and helping employers meet legislative compliance for ADA.

Our primary location is Pikesville Plaza in Baltimore, MD serving clients from Maryland, Delaware, DC, Virginia, West VA, and Pennsylvania and clinic locations at the Amen Clinic of DC in Reston, Va, Richmond, VA, Elizabeth, NJ, and Omaha, NE.
