How long have you been in business?

What is your primary product or service?
We provide a facility for groups, primarily Catholic schools and parishes, to hold retreats for middle school aged and high school aged youth. We also have a pool and picnic area for groups to rent. Though Catholic youth are our primary focus, we are open to people of all faiths for retreats and meetings.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The House was founded by Mgr. Clare O'Dwyer back in 1963. He had a real commitment to serve young people and he worked hard to assure the programming and places provided for them was the best. The founding of this retreat house was his way of assuring that teens had a great place to go on retreat, where they would feel comfortable and welcome. We strive every day to make sure the young people who come here still feel that way.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are different from other retreat facilities in that we host primarily teenage groups - they are over 90% of our visitors. But we are also happy to host adult groups.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are a single location but are we are currently looking at ways to expand our offerings at this location, Stay tuned!

We are on York Road in Sparks, MD, 1/2 mile north of Belfast Road. From I-83, take the Belfast Road exit and head east to York Road.Turn left and the retreat house is 1/2 mile on the right.
What type of payments do you accept?
Guest typically pay their deposits and balances by check but we do accept cash and major credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
Groups primarily come from the Baltimore area, but we also have groups come from the Washington area, southern Pennsylvania, and even as far away as Erie, PA and Massachusetts.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are a part of the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Department of Evangelization. Michael Downes is Director and responsible for daily operations.
What are your hours of operation?
Our facility is available 7 days a week.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
We felt welcomed and were comfortable, and everything went smoothly and we had everything we needed.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
In our lobby it says "Come apart and rest awhile, " which is based on Mark 6:31. It is our mission to give people that needed space to renew and nurture their relationship with God.
